Boasting some of the most striking foliage in the houseplant world, the Alocasia Black Velvet or Alocasia Reginula is an increasingly popular addition to indoor plant collections in the UK due to its unmatched visual and sculptural appeal.

Alocasia melo is a compact, silvery dark-blue foliage. The leaves are thick, textured, and matte, with pronounced veining that creates a sculpted, almost rippled appearance.

Its small, upright growth habit allows it to form a neat clump of foliage, making it ideal for indoor spaces where larger Alocasia species may be too sprawling.

Lighting:

Alocasia black velvet thrives in bright indirect light. Place it near a window where it can receive filtered sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves. Insufficient light may result in stunted growth and loss of colour vibrancy.

Watering:

Water the Alocasia thoroughly when the top inch of the soil feels dry. Ensure proper drainage to prevent waterlogging, as it can lead to root rot. It is better to underwater than overwater, as the plant is susceptible to root rot. Adjust the watering frequency based on the humidity levels and the season. Bottom watering is highly recommended.

Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves. Collections or 'mixed' listings for plants will be selected dependant on availability and carefully hand-picked to ensure their quality.
