A member of the Araceae family, this plant is native to the lowland rainforest floor of Ecuador. It is a popular Anthurium species that stands out due to it's large, heart shaped leaves with waves/ruffles that resemble ears.
*Pot size: 14cm. Toxic to pets.*
Did you know?
Anthurium balaoanum grows as a chamaephyte, which starts on the terrestrial floor and then climbs up a tree. To have the leaves upsize, you need to offer the plant some climbing support. When the aerial roots securely attach to the pole, you’ll see the leaves upsize with the following new leaf.
Watering:
This plant likes it's soil lightly moist, but never soggy. Water when the top two inches of soil are dry. It is tolerant to neglect so makes an ideal beginners plant. This plant also enjoys high humidity, making it perfect for the bathroom.
Lighting:
Bright lighting but not direct sun. Hot, direct sunlight may cause scorch marks on the leaves so would need to be kept away from a window.
Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves. Collections or 'mixed' listings for plants will be selected dependant on availability and carefully hand-picked to ensure their quality.
