*RARE Variegated* String of Pearls / Senecio rowleyanus

The String of Pearls is a creeping succulent plant native to South America with green balls for leaves that almost look like peas. This is a relatively low maintenance plant that, with adequate care, will grow quickly to create an eye catching decoration in any home. This variegated edition is even more striking, with white marbling on each leaf, it looks fantastic trailing down a shelf.

The thick, round, water-storing leaves minimize the surface area exposed to dry desert air to reduce evaporative water loss. They also reduce the surface area where photosynthesis can occur compared to a normal thin, flat leaf.

Watering

Water when soil is completely dry. Always water string plants from the bottom to prevent rotting the leaves. To do this, submerge pot in water until the plant has absorbed what it needs and allow time for any excess water to drip out before placing in decorative pots to prevent waterlogging.

Lighting

The String of Pearls will require a lot of sunlight on top to allow leaves to continue to flourish. Keep in a relatively bright spot in your home but away from direct sunlight during the peak of summer to prevent scorching the leaves.
